SNAFU Society of Unexpected Spectacles A spicy puppet cabaret, hosted by a sassy grandma who keeps trying to steal the show. This beautifully twisted variety show is performed by Ingrid Hansen, who also puppeteers for Jim Henson Company’s Fraggle Rock. Watch behind-the-scenes as Hansen performs a live puppet film, animating cheeky vignettes in the palm of her hand and projecting them onto a huge screen.  Both live and magnified on screen, in cunningly angled cameras and mirrors, we see Hansen create characters from her own hands, fingers, tongue, in a saucy and jostling vaudeville of ‘stars’. Tiny stories emerge that celebrate the hilarious impossibility of being alive and having a body: these fragile bags of meat and bone carry us from place to place and allow us to laugh and snort and feel. SNAFU’s work has been compared to Wes Anderson and David Lynch, yet “hilarious, absurd and profoundly human.” (The Star Phoenix Newspaper).  Directed by Britt Small (premiere director of Ride the Cyclone), with costumes by JIMBO (winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race), performed by Ingrid Hansen (puppeteer for The Jim Henson Company’s Fraggle Rock and Sesame). Prenez part au voyage musical de Stephen Fearing, le nomade folk canadien qui a passé sa vie sur la route à peaufiner sa musique internationalement reconnue. Depuis ses années formatrices à Dublin jusqu’à sa vie sur la route avec Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, Fearing raconte son histoire en concert à travers ses textes émouvants et son brillant jeu de guitare. Fearing a sorti 10 albums solos avec la participation d’invités spéciaux, dont Bruce Cockburn, Margo Timmons, Rose Cousins, Richard Thompson, Shawn Colvin, et Sarah McLachlan. Lorsqu’il ne se trouve pas derrière un micro, il passe son temps à produire des albums, incluant celui de Suzie Vinnick, Happy Here, qui a été mis en nomination pour un Juno. Tout comme les invités sur ses albums, les nombreuses accolades qu’ils a reçues au fil des années témoignent du respect qu’il a acquis auprès de ses pairs, des présentateurs et de la critique. Sa passion du métier et son aptitude à séduire les publics se reflètent aussi dans ses multiples nominations aux JUNO et au Prix de la musique folk canadienne, et dans un circuit de tournée qui ne cesse de s’étendre à travers l’Amérique du Nord, au Royaume-Uni et en Europe. Pour son album Every Soul’s a Sailor en 2017, il s’est mérité le Worldwide Album of the Year remis par Blues & Roots Radio et fut nommé Chanteur contemporain de l’année au Prix de la musique folk canadienne. Ayant déménagé plusieurs fois dans sa vie et ayant passé d’innombrables mois sur la route, Fearing est un conteur doué et un véritable nomade musical capable de captiver tous les publics. « Être sur scène c’est ce qui me plait le plus, surtout quand l’adrénaline monte, » dit-il avec un grand sourire. « Les gens veulent s’évader et être transporté.
