Mi’gmafrica, c’est la rencontre musicale entre la culture mandingue, avec Sadio Sissokho, émérite griot du Sénégal, et la culture mi’gmaq, avec Valérie Ivy Hamelin, artiste multidisciplinaire de la Nation micmac de Gespeg. Les mélodies, les chants, les hommages aux anciens et les prières s’allient en douceur et puissance, pour vous amener dans les confins de l’histoire de l’humanité. Deux traditions, deux continents, qui puisent leur inspiration et force aux mêmes sources, les racines de la terre et la Création. Sadio partage, à la kora et à la voix, les chants traditionnels mandingues reçus de son père et Valérie Ivy partage les chants traditionnels mi’gmaq, accompagnée de son tambour à main, de sa flûte et de sa voix. Ensemble, ils nous présentent ces chants revisités, ainsi que des compositions, dans lesquelles s’entrecroisent, avec magie et beauté, les langues mi’gmaq, mandingue, wolof et française.
