L’essor du cinéma au XXe siècle a bouleversé l’évolution de la musique symphonique, et certaines des plus belles partitions sont nées dans les studios de Hollywood. L’Orchestre Philharmonique du Québec et Alexandre Da Costa rendent justice aux pionniers et aux visionnaires qui, en servant le septième art, ont façonné un langage symphonique dont l’influence est omniprésente aujourd’hui. Max Steiner, Elmer Bernstein, Miklos Rozsa ou encore Erich Wolfgang Korngold font partie de cet âge d’or du cinéma hollywoodien, dont on découvrira certaines pépites lors de ce concert avec les trames symphoniques de King Kong, Autant en emporte le vent, Casablanca, Ben Hur ou Les aventures de Robin des bois. Ce répertoire haut en couleurs sera sublimé par les envolées mélodiques du Stradivarius « Deveault » 1701 d’Alexandre Da Costa!
