Présentée durant le 100e anniversaire de Marcelle Ferron (1924-2001), l’exposition Marcelle Ferron : Le geste coloré honore celle qui s’est imposée comme l’une des plus importantes artistes de la modernité québécoise. L’exposition présente des œuvres remarquables de la production artistique de Marcelle Ferron : des œuvres riches en couleurs qui traduisent la puissance d’un geste énergique et franc, dominées par l’importance de la lumière et empreintes d’un mouvement singulier propre à l’artiste. Née à Louiseville en 1924, Marcelle Ferron est la première femme à recevoir le prix Paul-Émile-Borduas. Cosignataire en 1948 du manifeste Refus global, avec entre autres Paul-Émile Borduas, Jean Paul Riopelle, Françoise Sullivan, Pierre Gauvreau, Fernand Leduc et Marcel Barbeau, elle est reconnue comme étant une pionnière de la peinture abstraite au Québec.
