<p>It’s a well-known fact: Canada boasts some of the greatest singers and songwriters in the world. On Sunday, April 28, New West Symphony &amp; Chorus and New West Student Ensemble will show their respect to many of Canada’s most talented musical artists as they perform <strong><em>True North Strong &amp; Loud: New West Celebrates Canadian Music</em></strong>. Proudly presented by New West Music &amp; Arts Society, concert guests will enjoy unique renditions of songs that generations of music-lovers have listened to on their record players, danced to, played loudly on their car stereos, and streamed on their mobile device.</p> <p><strong><em>True North Strong &amp; Loud</em></strong> will feature many of Canada’s most celebrated and well-known songs. From Celine Dion, to the Rankin Family, to Alanis Morissette, and from rock to country to jazz, New West will take you down memory lane and have you singing along to some of your all-time Canadian favourites. Check out this review of one of New West’s previous spring concerts:</p> <p>“My partner and I were invited to this show by one of your members; we said ‘yes,’ but we were prepared for an evening of uptight, mediocre “church choir” style music. Wow, were we wrong! It was anything but! Every single song was top-notch, professional, and engaging… even their costumes and props were second to none. We’ll be back, New West… again and again and again!”</p> <p>The 100 musician-strong New West Symphony &amp; Chorus is directed by Henric Ideström and Natalie Prando. Founded in February 2010, this community-based choir and orchestra typically performs an average of fifteen full-length concerts per season at various venues in and around Calgary.</p> <p>New West Student Ensemble is a youth choir and orchestra for students in Grades 7 through 12. This energetic and dynamic group of over forty young people is under the direction of David Klob and Elisa Riegel.</p> <p>Adult tickets to <strong>True North Strong &amp; Loud</strong> range in price from $35 to $40, with a discounted price for youth 17 years and under. Tickets go on sale to the public in March.
