Feast your ears on the rhapsodic beauty and boisterous verve of Brahms’s Violin Concerto performed by the eminent Canadian violinist James Ehnes who brings his consummate musicianship and dazzling virtuosity to the work. Rune Bergmann then takes the Orchestra through the stormy passion and sweeping melodies of Nordic fellowman Jean Sibelius’s First Symphony, a potent depiction of heroic struggle against overwhelmingly negative forces.
