Description @en

How is the event described?

Note: alternatives with an asterix (*) in the label will appear here for easy comparison.

Best practice: shorter is better. Listings will often cut off the description after 2 or 3 sentences.

Antarctica’s name alone conjures imagery of the harshest environment on Earth, but it is more than its monochromatic colour scheme of snow and ice. Meet the many species of penguins that waddle and swim through the freezing water, along with an abundance of other life, on a journey south with quantitative ecologist Heather Lynch.

National Geographic Explorer Dr. Heather Lynch is dedicated to understanding the population dynamics of Antarctic wildlife, with a particular focus on Antarctic penguins. She has more than a decade of field experience on the continent. She is an Associate Professor at Stony Brook University with a joint appointment in the Department of Ecology & Evolution and the Institute for Advanced Computational Science.

Dive into the icy waters as multi-award-winning Heather Lynch shares her experience and insights on the frozen continent and the fascinating creatures who live there as part of Werklund Centre’s National Geographic Live series, live at the Jack Singer Concert Hall.

ASL Interpretation at National Geographic Live
Werklund Centre is proud to provide an ASL Interpreter at all presentations of National Geographic Live. The interpreter is located toward the left side of the stage when viewing from your seat. For ideal seating, choose Orchestra or Mezzanine level seating.
